TRAINING NEWS

NEW APPRENTICESHIPS STARTS 21st-22nd MARCH 2018

FeRFA will be starting new Apprenticeships in Resin Flooring, Screeding and Surface Preparation on 21st-22nd March 2018 at the Ibis Hotel in Rugby.

The two-year schemes all lead to an NVQ Level 2 Diploma and the scheme is fully grant funded for CITB registered employers. The current CITB funding for specialist apprenticeship schemes is very advantageous to employers, but as changes are being introduced from April onwards, this may be a good opportunity to put a candidate forward and enable you to recoup CITB levy payments for training. More details on the scheme are available here.

To pre-register for this scheme please download this candidate enrolment form and send back to FeRFA.

If you wish to enrol an apprentice or have any other queries about the schemes on offer and their benefits, please call FeRFA on 07484 075254 or email secretariat@ferfa.org.uk.

RESIN 18 TAKE RESIN SCREEDS MODULE

The Resin 18 apprentices spent three days as Resdev’s training facility in Elland this month being taught how to lay screeds and create covings. The apprentices had plenty of practical hands-on experience and the group thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to apply quartz materials and gain practice on their trowel work to take those skills into the workplace. Boud Minerals kindly supplied the quartz mix for the Resdev screed – all of which was donated free of charge. The apprentices were able to perfect their techniques in screeding and coving working on purpose built wooden frames. Boud Minerals Logo

The programme consists of 9 Modules (10 days off-site training) and will cover all courses based on the diploma units towards the NVQ Level 3 qualification. This course meets all the requirements of the Build UK Training Standards for Supervisors. All training will take place at the DSA training facility in Nottingham and course attendance will take place over a three to six month period and will also require a one day on-site assessment. This 10 day course provides the opportunity to raise the general standards of supervisors and to equip them to deal with the increasing documentation and awareness involving safety and other legislation. Food and accommodation is provided for the dates in the schedule where required at no extra cost.

The spreadsheet includes a graph, automatically generated from your figures – which you can show to prospective clients.

More details on the recycling initiative are here.
