The National Trust puts their trust in National Flooring

National Trust treasure, Belton House, were looking to create an external looking play area indoors and found a resin solution that complemented their ideas.

Belton House is a classic 17th century English country house, owned by the National Trust, and set amongst impressive grounds within the old market Town of Grantham. The grand building with its opulent décor and fine furnishings is a popular visitor attraction which provides its guests with the opportunity to relax and explore the estate and enchanting gardens. Another of its appealing features is The Ride, a café and indoor play area, a favourite with families. When the Trust wanted to create an indoor play area they turned to Degafloor and The National Flooring Company for inspiration. The café, which is an internal feature, was created to replicate an external picnic area with an adventure playground for children. Degafloor and The National Flooring Company provided the ideal solutions for the project design concept with the Degafloor Stone Carpet. The attractive system encapsulates natural or coloured aggregates in a clear resin matrix, however to ensure a gravel type appearance was maintained natural aggregates were selected on this occasion. The Trust decided to refurbish an existing outbuilding to provide enhanced facilities for families with young children. The restaurant, located within the same forecourt as the new café remained open to visitors throughout the development. To ensure the installation had no impact on their daily operations the project had to be carefully planned and managed. The installation which totalled over 200m2 was completed with minimum disruption and has created a modern and exciting dining facility for young children. The new café area called The Ride, has combined the contemporary with the traditional and has helped to encourage young families to visit the impressive country attraction. Anna Simpson, of National Flooring comments, “It is always interesting to work with clients on a project where there are specific design parameters set. Creating an external looking floor finish internally with a resin solution is becoming more popular, particularly with retailers but the context in which this was designed was perfect for the Degafloor Stone Carpet system and suited the imaginative playground idea perfectly. The National Trust is well known for providing interesting sites that offer an educational insight in to British history and The National Flooring Company is delighted to have worked with them on this project.”
