Mortlake Crematorium

Total Protection provided a serene and safe environment for the external areas at Mortlake Crematorium.

Mortlake Crematorium is a busy cemetery based in Kew, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It has been described as “a building of exceptional quality and character” and was a project Total Protection were very privileged and pleased to undertake. The product used was produced to eliminate the requirement for a macadam or concrete substrate upon which to apply resin bound gravel. ‘Rustic Gold’ was the clients preferred colour selection which consists of a blend of aggregates ranging from sand to stones 10mm in size, providing a decorative, natural looking SUDS compliant surface with minimal maintenance required. 1469m2 was the total area size completed consisting of the pathways leading up to, and including the main courtyard area. Due to the large area size and the careful co-ordination and consideration required due to the ongoing services occurring at the Crematorium, the works were completed over 18 non-consecutive days. The works were also challenging to undertake at the required time of the year due to weather conditions, and in order to comply with the manufacturers recommendations for laying this material, works had to be postponed on several occasions due to rain. All parties concerned including the client at the Crematorium were very pleased with the end result.
