Barclays bank on Central Flooring

Central Flooring’s smart thinking and an innovative Altro product made quick work of a difficult project for Barclays at its Canary Wharf building.

The existing vinyl sheet flooring was allowing the egress of water to the offices below. The area in questions was used as a potwash and there was concern that any water damage to the office could potentially cost millions of pounds to put right. Central Flooring was tasked with not only finding a solution, but carrying it out between Friday evening and Sunday night. Also, given the time scale, the sheet vinyl could not be removed. Altro Flexiflow was chosen because, after preparation, it could be applied straight onto the existing sheet vinyl, saving time, noise and money. Working late into the night the Central Flooring team of trained operatives had to cope with the obstructions of machinery, manholes and drainage. Fortunately the existing cove details could be utilisted which saved valuable project time. All the preparation, including the priming was completed on the Friday night and the floor was installed on the Saturday ready for sealing on the Sunday. The Altro Flexiflow is so flexible it can be installed over sheet vinyl, providing a totally seamless solution which will allow for any movement within the vinyl making it the perfect product for any vinyl refurbishment. Due to the material having such viscous properties, the client was able to leave all the machinery in place, saving valuable time on the project at both the start and finish of the works.
