Total Protection carried out some decorative Resin Bound Gravel to a circular designed courtyard for a £11 million residential development! The total area size was 111m2 using Addagrip’s BBA Approved Addaset product in 3mm ‘Lucerne Silver’ and 3mm ‘Dorset Gold’, all laid at a depth of 12mm. Prior to laying the Bound Gravel, Total Protection were also responsible for the installation of the formable edge detail to demarcate the split in colours, which took two days to complete; followed by the Addaset which took a further two days. The client was very pleased with the outcome, as were Total Protection! “I must admit the job looks brilliant!”

Flowcrete UK has worked with the Prestwich & North Western Housing Association to revitalise the outdoor walkways at a complex in Prestwich, Manchester.

The existing finish was starting to show signs of age, wear and discolouration, with moss and weeds infiltrating the surface and in places significant sized chunks had come out of the walkway and exposed the underlying concrete. The number of holes in the surface was not only unpleasant to look at but it was also presenting a serious trip hazard. To rectify the walkway and turn it back into a colourful, functional and safe surface, Flowcrete UK supplied 650m2 of the polyurethane-based transparent binder Flowbind. A 12-18mm thick coating of natural stone screed in a bright red colour was chosen for the project, as it would match the appearance of the previous system and provide the site’s tenants with a durable and attractive finish. The resin bonded stone system Flowbind contains colourful pieces of natural stone encapsulated in clear resin. The textured finish that Flowbind creates is slip resistant, which is ideal for external pedestrian areas that are exposed to the elements. It took one and a half months to complete the flooring project, after which the Prestwich & North Western Housing Association’s tenants could rest assured that the surface underfoot would maintain a colourful, slip resistant and crack free finish for an extended period of time.

A Remmers polyurethane (PUR) comfort floor system was chosen to compliment the new Dublin based headquarters of Avolon, the global providers of aircraft leasing and lease
management services to airlines.

Avolon is a leading global aircraft lessor, providing aircraft leasing and lease management services to airlines and aircraft investors worldwide. The seamless flooring system was applied to the raised access floor of the reception and circulation areas, giving a flexible and comfortable finish to the new office whilst also providing a cleanable floor requiring minimum maintenance. This top of the range flooring system offers complete colour stability and maximum foot comfort wherever it is used. All Remmers PUR systems benefit from the almost limitless choice of RAL and NCS colours and the possibility of matt, silk or gloss finish – with or without our slip resisting additive – which does not compromise the cleanability of the floor. The new Headquarters in Dublin were officially opened in February 2012.

The changing areas and washrooms at Lafarge Cement Laboratories needed a durable but easily cleaned solution to replace the industrial vinyl sheet flooring which was being destroyed by abrasion from cement dust and concrete particles.

During discussions the varying requirements of each floor zone were outlined by the client, and their needs were carefully discussed to provide the most appropriate solutions. The reception area had to look ‘five star’ but be hard wearing and easy to clean, the various rooms for pets needed to be bright, hard wearing and easy to clean. The client is delighted with the installation and the performance of the resin flooring – as are their four legged guests.

When an artist and designer were looking for a contemporary flooring system for their studio, they turned to Ultrasyntec and Resdev to provide a textured finish to complement the art installations on display.

Resdev’s new Rondeau Carnival decorative resin bound flooring system provided the ideal solution for an artist and designers new studio floor. The decorative stone particles encapsulated in a clear, virtually solvent free binder gave the required tactile, textured finish required. Ultrasyntec provided the high quality of installation necessary as the structure’s overall appearance was as much part of the work as the art installations themselves.

Ronacrete has showcased its sustainable, permeable paving system, RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing and its EcoBound range at the BRE Innovation Park in Watford.

The BRE Innovation Park promotes a sustainable and low carbon built environment by housing some of the world’s most sustainable buildings and providing a testing ground for new products and construction systems. Ronacrete replaced the existing path (a basic mix of type one and sand) with a visually striking resin bound pathway using a selection of aggregate blends from the range – Autumn Harvest, Lunar, Terracotta Snow, Maple Harvest and Quartz Parallel. 20mm RonaDeck Resin Bound Surfacing was installed on to EcoGrid (ground stabalisation system made from 100% recycled plastic) which was then filled with recycled aggregates. This provided a fully permeable SuDS compliant surfacing system. Ronacrete also agreed to replace the surfacing of the outdoor gym area which consisted of bark and a very hard type one aggregate with a UV stable rubber granule surfacing system. A depth of 120mm was excavated and once levelled, a geotextile membrane was rolled out. A 100mm shockpad was then installed on to the membrane. The shockpad is a combination of black rubber granules made from recycled truck tyre carcases mixed with resin and then raked out on to the surface and left to cure over night. Yellow, blue, green and red rubber granules were then used as a wearing surface to provide decoration.

A bespoke decorative resin flake system provides a seamless, hard-wearing and hygienic floor for the employee and visitor relaxation area of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Co in East Yorkshire.

ACC Flooring were the natural choice to provide the flooring for Scotts Miracle-Gro’s staff recess areas. They needed an attractive and welcoming surface that met with their high safety standards and the bespoke vinyl flake system from Resdev Ltd fitted all their criteria. The staff recess areas consist of a fully operational kitchen, eating area and relaxation/edia area with a bright and lively colour scheme. It is open to all employees and as such it is subjected to regular foot traffic from office and factory staff as well as visitors. The floor not only needed to be attractive and fits in the colour scheme, it also needed to be tough and easy to clean. Resdev’s Intrica Illumnia and Glitterati, from their Specialist Designer range, were chosen as the basis for the bespoke colour combination. Intrica Illumnia is a collection of delicate and subtle whites, creams and greys with pale silver or rich gold tarnish free methcallic flakes and Glitterati brings together a blend of bright and exciting colours. They are a seamless, hardwearing and hygienic alternative to traditional contract flooring which is both stylish and practical. As with all their projects, ACC maintained a fully compliant H&S record along with an excellent commitment to recycled waste disposal.

Flowcrete UK’s sustainable floor finish, Mondeco Mirrazzo, is combining style with substance in a stunning project at Doncaster Civic Office

Flowcrete’s Mondeco Mirrazzo is a seamless epoxy resin terrazzo floor finish, which utilises a blend of up to 60 per cent recycled crushed clear, coloured and mirrored glass and metal particles, for environmental performance 1,000 square metres were applied in a phased refurbishment installation over a five week period at at Doncaster Civic Hall’s in South Yorkshire. The works also included the development of pre-cast features and in-situ stair treads and risers.
