FeRFA Apprentices learn the art of self-smoothing at BASF

BASF hosted another practical training session for FeRFA apprentices at their training facility in Redditch.

FeRFA trainer, Terry Foxley, spent two days with the group (the 15th in resin flooring) giving them expert advice and guidance on the installation of self smoothing systems and creating coving details using materials supplied by BASF. The two day sessions included both classroom and practical sessions so all the apprentices could get hands-on experience. The apprentices can now take the techniques they learnt into the workplace and continue their training under supervision with their employers.

The apprentices in group 15 are:

Christopher Davey (IRL Group Ltd), Alex Bowers (John Lord & Son Ltd), Paul Ratcliffe, Anthony Rowell and Matthew Haines (Midland Industrial Flooring), Anthony O’Keeffe (Senso) and Robert Atkins (Central Flooring Services) and Stephen Cox from group 14, pictured with FeRFA trainer Terry Foxley – far left.

The group has two more modules to complete – one on Flowable Screeds and a final module on Screeds and Covings. They will then move on to the assessment phase of the apprenticeship and continue to gain experience through on site supervised training with their employers towards their NVQ level 2 Diploma in Flooring: In Situ Resin.
