Congratulations to all the shortlisted companies who submitted excellent projects for consideration for this award. The FeRFA Best Practice Awards will be presented by Colin Murray on 11 November at the Belfry Hotel, and the shortlist is given below:

Project: Walkers Snack Foods, Peterlee

An innovative installation technique was used on this project to encapsulate old worn vinyl surfaces with a seamless resin floor finish.  The new resin floor delivers on aesthetic appearance, durability and slip resistance, whilst providing an easy to clean finish in this food environment.

A durable and hygienic flooring system was the client’s top priority, together with a floor that was aesthetically pleasing.  All of these requirements were met with a seamless resin floor finish, ideal for this type of animal welfare environment.

Project: Instrumentation Lab, Jaguar Land Rover, Whitley

Traditional vinyl flooring lost out to the appeal of a hardwearing, seamless resin floor finish.  A comfort resin floor was selected by the client because of its aesthetic appeal  together with its ability to be easily cleaned and maintained.

Seamless, noise suppression and comfort underfoot were the top specification requirements for this architectural practice to create a modern office space.   The new flooring now provides the perfect environment for employees, prospective clients and visitors.

A resin comfort floor system was the ideal choice for this modern, contemporary kitchen where the flooring had to be attractive, easy to clean, sufficiently durable to stand up to furniture movement, yet comfortable enough for a family environment.

Modern resin technology has been expertly used in this traditional ice cream parlour to produce a traditional geometric design.  The final floor area represents a large tessellated tile pattern with the added benefit of being totally seamless.

Project: Emilia Wickstead, London

The design and aesthetic appearance was a critical factor for the retail outlet of high end fashion designer Emilia Wickstead.  A seamless marble look resin system incorporating recycled glass was used throughout, complimented by bespoke matching furniture expertly made from the same resin system.

Project: Project Hercules, Rolls Royce, Solihull

With up to 10,000 m2 of flooring in this new build high tech aviation facility, the resin flooring system had to meet very specific requirements for both performance and aesthetics.  With challenging onsite conditions to overcome, a range of resin flooring finishes were successfully installed throughout this facility.

Project: Costa Coffee, Basildon

5,000 m2 of  polyurethane screed was installed in two phases at this state of the art coffee plant.  The resin flooring system had to provide a durable hi-gloss finish with thermal capabilities of up to 700C to withstand the process of ground coffee manufacture.

Project: Paint Shop, Bentley Motors, Crewe

A complete refurbishment of the 3,000m2 paint shop was required to provide a show piece environment for the Bentley Bentayga. A smooth white glossy resin finish has been installed to a very tight working programme with challenging onsite conditions.

With an 18 day deadline to refurbish 14,000 m2 of flooring within the assembly plant, fasttrack resin flooring was required for this project.  A decorative and protective anti-static high build resin system was expertly installed to meet the client’s timeframe.

Skillfully applied resin flooring gives the appearance of smooth concrete to compliment the architectural design in the atrium of this sculptural cast-concrete office.

Project:  Kirkgate Market, Leeds

This £12 million pound English Heritage project needed high performance floors with both aesthetic appeal and slip resistance for the 100,000 visitors per week. Installed to a very tight working programme, a decorative seamless quartz resin flooring system met all the requirements for this famous 1850’s city market.

FeRFA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

We are looking forward to a great event at the Belfry next month. The dinner is sold out, but all members welcome to join us for the Annual General Meeting to be held at 15.00 on 11 November, where you can meet with fellow members. COUNCIL ELECTIONS

All member companies can put forward a nomination to sit on Council for the coming year. The FeRFA Council is elected annually at the AGM and consists of 16 members, comprising representation from manufacturer and contractor members and a maximum of 4 associate members. There are three meetings per year, plus the AGM.

If you wish to put your name forward, please contact FeRFA preferably not later than Friday 28 October.

FeRFA GOLF DAY

4m WinnersThis month the FeRFA Golf Day took place at a beautiful new venue - the Erewash Valley Golf Club in Stanton By Dale, Ilkeston.

The golf club was well situated and made use of the natural features to provide a good competition - and it didn't rain.

There was a good turnout and our thanks go to sponsors: Mapei, Remmers, Resdev and Zenith Pola for providing the prizes.

The winning team was 4M Floors UK (pictured right: Charlie Hackney, Darren Stanley, Ron Stanley and Jon Amis) with Altro coming second, Remmers third and Mapei fourth.
Grant Wilson was nearest the pin on the 4th hole and Graham Rushmer on the 14th. Alan Milner won the longest drive.

Training IconCITB FLEXIBLE FUNDING

The next window for CITB’s Flexible Funding will open on 18th October and CITB has scheduled funding workshops, taking place across the three nations starting now to help support companies with their funding applications. The events are free to attend and very useful for any company considering making an application in the next round of funding, which closes on 14th November.
