FeRFA's RECYCLING SCHEME

RECYCLING - ARE YOU TAKING PART?

If you are not already submitting your recycling data in 2018 please start doing this now to qualify for the recycling logo within your FeRFA website entry.

It is easy to do using the datasheet (if not using Reconomy) – only two figures are needed per month – total weight collected and total weight recycled or recovered. This is information that should be provided by your waste collector. If it isn’t then ask them why not. The spreadsheet includes a graph, automatically generated from your figures – which you can show to prospective clients.

More details on the recycling initiative are here.

DISCOVER THE BENEFITS OF USING THE RECONOMY PORTAL TO MANAGE YOUR CONSTRUCTION WASTE

Did you know that the Reconomy Portal will give you round-the-clock access to your key waste documentation and data – across all your construction sites? We would like to show you how to gain:

  • control over the waste streams generated on each construction site you manage
  • the ability to create detailed reports on your waste management with ease.

By giving you an in-depth insight into the handling of waste across all your building sites, with dynamically updated information, the Reconomy Portal offers an unrivalled opportunity to gain control over your waste management.

BUILD UK ACCIDENT SURVEY 2018 - LIVE NOW

The 2017/18 BUILD UK Accident Survey is now live for FeRFA CONTRACTOR MEMBERS to submit accident statistics for the last 12 months from 1 April 2017 – 31 March 2018 via the following link:

Accident Survey 2017/18

The deadline for responses to this year’s survey is Friday 1 September 2018 – but please don’t wait until the deadline to complete it as we will send regular reminders until it is completed.
It should only take a few minutes to do, and if you have had no reportable accidents it will be just seconds as all you need to give is number of employees for that period, then click NO to accidents and it is done.

Please note that providing annual accident statistics is a requirement of membership for contractors.

A good response to the survey is vital as the information can be used to demonstrate to clients and others that the safety record of members is better than non-members. It can also help to identify accident trends in order to produce guidance which can reduce the risk of similar incidents in future.

BUILD UK LAUNCHES NEW WORK EXPERIENCE GUIDE

Build UK and the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a new work experience guide for the construction industry, designed to make it as easy as possible for companies to provide work experience placements that provide a stepping stone into longer term work or training – building on the excellent work many are already doing.

With almost a fifth of those working in construction aged over 55, and ambitious Government programmes in infrastructure and housing underway, boosting construction recruitment is crucial.

Advice on tailoring placements for school age students, interns and career changers, as well as examples of good practice in the industry are all included in the guide, which has been produced in collaboration with Class of Your Own.
