Eco service station at Gloucester Services

A new 'eco' service station on the M5 northbound features a decorative Ultratop floor to match the state of the art facilities.

A new service station built on the M5 northbound, between junctions 11a and 12 is an 'eco' type project; the main construction has an arched roof covered with grass and walls of local stone. The main areas have a screed containing Topcem binder laid over insulation and under-floor heating. Ultratop was applied over the Topcem screed to create a decorative wearing surface. Gloucester Services celebrates Gloucestershire through its farm shop, home-made food and interior design, whilst also generating money for local community projects. The £40 million project is a partnership between the Dunning family, who own and run the well-known Tebay services in Cumbria, recognised as an innovator in its industry, and a local charity Gloucestershire Gateway Trust. Gloucester services has created 300 jobs and aims to generate £10 million over 20 years for local community projects. Approx. 1600m2 of Topcem was applied throughout the main concourse and petrol station shop. In the main concourse approx. 1250m2 of Topcem was laid. Primer SN, 1.2mm quartz, Ultratop Anthracite and Ultratop Stucco were used throughout. Joints within the Ultratop were filled using an Anthracite colour matched Mapeflex PU30.
