Worksop College, New Boys Boarding Accommodation

Central Flooring Services has recently completed a project for Gelders Group at Worksop College; this is a British co-educational independent school for both day and boarding pupils aged 13 to 18, in Worksop.

The works involved three corridors of 180m2 each at the college. The specification required the preparation by mechanical STR sanding machine, followed by 1 coat of Sikafloor 161 DPM Primer then the full Sika Comfort Floor Pro System at 6mm thickness. Each corridor took five days to complete. To carry out the works Central had to take over the whole site as all the areas were corridors which cancelled out access to other trades, works were able to be carried out in normal working hours. The finish of the works was of high quality which included working up to high end Oak framed doorways and skirting’s, also working up to aluminium finished doors. The whole system is seamless with no expansion joints required whatsoever; this excludes eroding seams and maintenance that comes with soft flooring. In total 540m2 of Sika Comfort Floor Pro was laid in Umba Grey. When refresh is due in approximately 10 years, light sanding and over coating is all that is required, this would be with minimum disruption and low costs as opposed to soft flooring refurbishment which involves removal of all including latex more, more waste to landfill. This greener product helps to obtain good BREEAM ratings and low VOC to keep the UK in line with European standards.
