TPS360 Team Up With Flowcrete for St Fagan’s National Museum of History Project

TPS360 were successful in the competitive process to be selected by the main contractor to play a key role in redeveloping Wales’ most popular heritage attraction within tight timescales and budgetary restrictions.

Utilising funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Welsh Government, St Fagan’s National History Museum in Cardiff underwent a massive £25m makeover that included both new build and refurbishment works both of which TPS360 were an integral part of. The existing main building was totally transformed during the project with the construction of new galleries, learning areas and visitor facilities that were completed and opened to the public during the summer of 2017. Being one of Europe’s leading open-air museums and Wales most popular heritage site, St Fagans attracts more than 500,000 visitors each year, resulting in very heavy foot traffic; durability was therefore an important factor at the design stages – seamless terrazzo flooring has an outstanding record for durability and performance and with the correct care and maintenance, it typically lasts, or even outlasts the lifetime of the structure in which it resides. This project won the Large Commercial Project Award at the 2017/18 FeRFA Best Practice Awards.
