Specialist resin systems supplier Resin Surfaces Limited (RSL) has tackled one of its greenest briefs yet and has supplied flooring to the UK’s largest greenhouse project, Thanet Earth. Thanet Earth, which is based in Birchington in Kent, boasts the accolade of being the country’s biggest single production site of salad crops such as tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. RSL supplied a Chablis resin flooring in the canteen and offices owned by tomato specialists, Kaaij Greenhouses UK Ltd, who shares part of a 50% stake in the project and has its own plot at the site. Resuflor was chosen because it is a self-smoothing, seamless floor which combines outstanding wearing properties with an attractive finish. Resupen was then applied to provide a matt appearance. Martin Wroe, commercial director, at RSL explained: “Resin flooring isn’t always commonplace in the commercial sector, so this project was a very interesting one for us. We worked closely with the client and installation team, as we do with all challenging tasks, to ensure we could provide the best specification for the project. Kaaij Greenhouses wanted flat flooring in areas subject to lots of natural light, so we gave them a matt system with a UV-stable finish which fits with their aesthetic brilliantly.”
