Prepared For a Single Coat Application

A National Builders Merchant was looking for a solution for the floor gangway areas in one of their stores. The existing epoxy resin was flaking, worn and patchy which not only looked untidy but presented a trip hazard.

The Preparation Group’s contracting division PPC were called in, with a remit to remove and smooth the 300m2 surface, ready for the application of a new epoxy coating.

The first stage was a 250 Grinder fitted with a standard turbo disc, the ‘work horse’ in The Preparation Group’s fleet, to grind off the unstable material. This was followed by the 701S Terrco® multi-head, variable speed grinding and polishing machine to smooth the surface, removing all grind marks and imperfections and leaving a floor that could be coated in just one coat to minimise any disruption. All Terrco® models effortlessly glide across the surface.

The store could not close and continued to trade, so works were completed in 2 nights ensuring that the surface finish was protected for public foot traffic during opening hours. It was also located in a residential area, so operations needed to be quiet and a silenced generator used for the 3 phase power.
