Apartment at Dundee Wharf, London Docklands

An apartment in a landmark building in Wapping is given a beautiful seamless floor with acoustic properties and underfloor heating (together with waterproof finishes for a wet room).

Dundee Wharf occupies a prominent position on the River Thames in Wapping, London’s Docklands. The modern residential buildings occupy the site of a former shipyard known as Limekiln Dockyard. The brief was for a warm, seamless floor and wall combination to replace the dated wood and tile finish. Under floor heating was of paramount importance as the client wanted to remove all wall mounted heaters. Senso proposed a bespoke under floor heating system which entailed cutting slots into the existing screed. The floor was topped with the Senso Residential HD resin system including the acoustic shockpad, and for the walls, the seamless Senso resin wall covering was applied in wetrooms. A clause in the lease required the flooring to be carpet or other acoustic flooring solutions to prevent noise pollution. The properties had to fully explained to all parties. Senso submitted a test report o the acoustic properties of the flooring showing that the Sensofloor was able to reduce structure borne noise by -22dB, making it better than many carpets. The choice of Fusion Earth for the floor and Pierra for the walls united the space and created a beautiful calm canvas for the client to decorate with furniture, art and lighting.
